PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The 2018 PONY League World Series starts this Thursday in Washington County at Lew Hays PONY Field, and runs through August 15.

Bob Gregg, Chairman of the PONY League World Series, joined KDKA Radio on Tuesday to talk about the event and all of the activities surrounding it.

“Friday night at 5:30 we open a doubleheader. Over the weekend we start three games a day at noon. We do elimination games Monday and Tuesday during the day starting at 10 am,” Gregg said.

Games from the winner’s bracket will be held in the evenings at 5:30.

If a person is unable to attend a game, he or she can watch it online;

“All of our games are video streamed on MLB.com. We’ve got five games regionally carried on AT&T Sports Network for the first time ever,” Gregg added.

There will be plenty of things to do for fans who decide to check it out;

“We have FanFest on Thursday night and fans are invited to come out. We will be at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Store in Washington starting at 6:00pm.” Gregg continued,

“The teams will be there, the Pirates Bucco Brigade will be on hand with alumni, we have musical entertainment, Military and First Responders appreciation night on Tuesday and Mascot night on Monday.”

Teams from Austria, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the United States will all be competing.

The championship will take place on Wednesday at 7:30pm.
