PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Three more people in Allegheny County have died as a result of the flu, bringing the total number to 10 this season.

The Allegheny County Health Department says the residents who died as a result of the flu were in their late 90s, late 80s and mid-70s respectively.

All three had underlying conditions.

The health department says flu cases overall are declining compared to the end of 2019 but “flu activity remains high across Allegheny County and Pennsylvania.”

Health officials advise people to practice good hygiene and to call their doctor if they experience any flu-like symptoms.

Finally, the health department says the best way to fight the flu is by getting a flu shot.

Allegheny County has had 9,590 confirmed flu cases this season, by far the most in the commonwealth.

The entire state has seen 84,654 cases this winter.
