The U.S. Coast Guard teamed up with a non-profit organization called The Turtle Hospital to free a 500-pound leatherback turtle which was tangled in lobster trap lines.

Recreational boaters spotted the gentle giant struggling two miles off the coast of Marathon in Florida’s middle keys.

Rescuers stepped in to save the critically-endangered species. The turtle was freed without any harm.
