PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Christmas Carol is playing at the Byham Theater from now through December 23rd.

Actor Richard Thomas is playing the role of Ebenezer Scrooge and he joined the KDKA Radio Morning News on Thursday to tell listeners what it feels like to play the part.

Before he even read the script, he felt comfortable with the character.

“So much of the language of Scrooge is already in me. In learning it, it’s amazing how much of it I already knew,” Thomas said.

The 1843 classic written by Charles Dickens is an everlasting treat that does not grow old.

“I don’t think anybody anticipates the longevity of some of these great pieces. It goes right into the heart and it’s something all of us as fellow humans identify with,” Thomas added.

Thomas also portrayed John-Boy in the television series, The Waltons.

“It was a great show, great part and great fun. It did so much for me, personally. I got to have that success doing something that I was really proud of and something I believed in,” Thomas Explains.

“It’s amazing to me, generationally, how people come up to me and talk about it.”
