PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Allegheny Health Network says it is raising its minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2021.

The hospital network with about 19,000 employees says the decision “reflects... (a) commitment to providing a highly-competitive compensation and benefits" for all workers.

In a statement, Senior Vice President for Human Resources Melissa Ferraro said: “We are excited to reward our talented and dedicated employees for the critical roles they play in our success and for the exceptional care and services they provide to our patients and the community.”

AHN's biggest rival, UPMC, announced in 2016 that it was aiming for a minimum wage of $15 per hour by 2019.
