PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - April is National Donate Life Month, and Monday Allegheny General Hospital held a special event for transplant recipients and donor families to share their stories of grief and survival.

Medical professionals at Allegheny Health Network and AGH are aiming to raise awareness about the need of organ donations.  KDKA Radio’s Melinda Roeder told the KDKA Radio Afternoon News, “There are 115-thousand people waiting for transplants across the United States, of those patients 75-hundred are in Pennsylvania. 

Allegheny General Hospital Chief Operations Officer, Duke Rupert told the KDKA Radio Afternoon News, “We will be hosting events all month to bring awareness to the transplant waiting list, we are always looking to increase the number of donors.”
