Bishop David Zubik Says He Is Aware Of Past Allegations Of Nuns Abusing Children

Nuns abusing children is the latest allegation to rock the Catholic Church

Bishop David Zubik

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Roman Catholic Bishop David Zubik tells KDKA Radio he has been aware of past allegations of nuns abusing children in the diocese here.

The question arose because victims of alleged abuse by nuns presented a letter to the Vatican conference on clergy sex abuse now underway asking for predators to be exposed.

Bishop Zubik tells Larry and John what they have done in the past when the received an allegation against a nun.

”Now what we do in that case is then contact the religious superiors of that congregation to try to address the situation because when it comes in those instances that becomes the responsibility of the leaders of those religious orders.”

It's not clear if any allegation was ever substantiated.

A spokesman for the Allegheny County District Attorney says they have not received referrals of allegations against nuns.
