Bomb Squad Called To St. Paul Cathedral After Suspicious Package Found

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Police were called to St. Paul’s Cathedral Monday morning after a suspicious package was discovered inside the church.

Police were called just before 10 a.m. to investigate and unattended suitcase.

The Bomb Squad was called in to inspect the bag.

It was x-rayed and then a robot took it outside to the courtyard area of the church.

Police say as a precaution, the lower floors next to the church were evacuated as a precaution.

Nothing suspicious was found in the bag after it was open by a fully-suited bomb squad technician was sent in and authorities did an entire sweep of the church to make sure no other bags were inside.

Police continue to investigate.
