PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA 1020) - Basketball season is coming to a close with the NBA Finals beginning on Thursday night.

However this does not mean we are done playing basketball.

McKeesport native Swin Cash will be hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament July 21st and 22nd. in the Gold 1 parking lot of Heinz Field. All proceeds go to Cash for Kids, a charity founded by Swin that focuses on motivating, educating, and elevating kids through fitness.

In an interview on the KDKA Radio Morning Show on Wednesday, Cash talked about what gave her inspiration to start this tournament.

“I just started thinking about when I was younger and going to Harmarville and how awesome it was to be in the 3-on-3. After talking it over with our staff it was like hey, can we do this?"

The event is open for men and women over the age of 12.

Each team must have a minimum of three players and a maximum of four. The first team to score 15 points wins. If no team has scored 15 points after 20 minutes of play, the team with more points will win.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to have some fun, and at the same time you’re supporting a great cause,” Cash said.

3-on-3 is not the only thing a person can participate in.

“We’re going to have opportunities for people to sign up for the three point shootout. We have some other surprises we’ll be dropping and announcing as we get closer to the date.”

It is a competitive event and good sportsmanship is expected.
