PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - No school as originally planned today for students at several local districts. Over the weekend, parents of kids at Hance Elementary in the Pine-Richland district leaned that mold remediation had yet to be completed. So those students won't return until tomorrow and will attend Eden Hall Elementary for the rest of the week. An email to parents Saturday detailed efforts taken so far including dehumidifiers in all classrooms, surfaces wiped with detergent solution multiple times, and High Efficiency Particulate Air vacuum cleaners used on all surfaces and floors. An optional meeting for Hance parents is set for tonight at Pine-Richland High School auditorium.

“We will create an incredibly positive and meaningful educational experience for out Hance Elementary students,” according to the letter signed by Superintendent Brian R. Miller and other district officials.

Elsewhere, water damage from heavy rain is blamed for a week's delay at Mt Pleasant Jr-Sr High School. Some 900 students will return September 4th. Same return date for all students in the Canon-McMillan School District because of construction delays at Canon-McMillan High School. Both delays had been announced earlier.
