PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Plans are just about set for President Trumps visit to the Shale Insight Conference at the Convention Center Wednesday.

Sidewalk and road closures around the Convention Center will be phased in starting midnight Tuesday with 10th Street under the Convention Center.

By 4 a.m. the Fort Duquesne side walk closes, at 9 a.m. the 10th Street bypass and Fort Duquesne Boulevard from Point State Park to past the Convention center will close.

Public safety director Wendell Hissrich says they have learned from Trump’s last visit to town back in 2016 when he was then a candidate.

Violent protests broke out on 10th Street under the Convention Center.

Police Commander Eric Holmes advices those coming downtown to make sure they have identification.

“It’s a great day to not forget your ID, both your ID plus your work ID, you should have those on your person,” said Holmes.

The president is expected to arrive around downtown around 2:30 p.m. and should be gone by 5 p.m.
