1,700 Columbia Gas Customers Without Service In Washington County

Columbia Gas hopes to have services restored within 24 hours

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA): Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania has announced it has shut off gas services to nearly 1,700 customers in Donora, Washington County as a safety precaution as technicians begin to inspect the system before the relight process begins later Sunday.

KDKA TV reports that the shut off comes after a construction crew noticed an influx of air in the system on Saturday afternoon.

The areas impacted are: First through 15th Street, Allen Avenue, Bertha Avnue, Bradford Drive and Bradford Way, Brokaw Avenue, Castner Avenue, Cemetery Road, Charles Street, Cherry Way, Chestnut Street, Delsandro Drive, Donora Place, Fairview Avenue, Fayette Street, Franklin Avenue, Gilmore Avenue, Grandview Avenue, Helen Avenue, Heslep Avenue, Hickory Drive, Highland Avenue, Hill Street, Ida Avenue, Kenneth Street, Kenric Avenue, Koehlar    Avenue, Lawrence Drive, Liberty Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, Linden Way, Manor Road, Marelda Avenue, Market Street, Mccrea Avenue, McKean Avenue, Meade Street, Meldon Avenue, Mellon Avenue, Modisette Avenue, Mulberry Drive, Murray Avenue, Norman Avenue, Ohio Street, Orchard Avenue, Orchard Plan, Overlook Terrace, Pearl Alley, Pike Way, Prospect Avenue, Rod Way, Saint Nicholas Drive, Scott Street, Short Chestnut Street, Spragg Avenue, Strawberry Way, Sycamore Way, Teeple Avenue, Thompson Avenue, Van Pelt Street, Waddell Avenue, Walnut Street, Washington Way, Watkins Avenue, Weaver Avenue, Weaver Street, White Drive, Wire Way, Wise Street and Wood Street.

Homes that still have service are asked to keep their porch lights on. Anyone who returns home to their home without gas services are asked to call 1-888-460-4332 in order to have their gas turned back on.

For those impacted, Columbia Gas has set up warming centers at the following locations:

  • Carrol Township Social Hall - 130 Baird Avenue, Monongahela, PA 15063
  • Carrol Township Volunteer Fire Department - 988 Route 837, Monongahela, PA 15063
  • Donora Council Chambers 603 Meldon Avenue, Donora, PA 15033

If customers are in need of transportation to the warming centers, please call: 724-379-6600.

Remember that all Columbia Gas employees and contractors wear a company-issued ID badge with a photo.

Columbia Gas expects to have the gas services restored within 24 hours.
