PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Starting in September, travelers will no longer be able to fly direct from Pittsburgh International to Paris.

Delta Airlines is cancelling their nonstop seasonal service from Pittsburgh to Paris as of September 3 after nearly ten years. The decision is a result of an influx of competition at the airport. In the past year, Pittsburgh International has added nonstop flights to Iceland and Germany, with service to London beginning in April.

Pittsburgh International added Delta's nonstop service to Paris in 2009 when the airport was still struggling from the loss of US Airways. At the time, the service was the only way travelers could fly direct from Pittsburgh to Europe.

An airline spokesperson told The Tribune Review customers who purchased their tickets for next year will either be accommodated on other Delta flights or receive a refund.
