PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Dick’s Sporting Goods is destroying all the guns and accessories it stopped selling after the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The Pittsburgh based retailer says it is in the process of destroying all the assault-style firearms pulled from its shelves, rather than returning them to their manufacturers.

A Dick’s company spokesperson said in a statement:

“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change.  We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”

In the aftermath of the massacre at Stoneman Douglas High School, Dick's banned the sale of assault-style rifles and stopped selling guns to anyone under 21.

The guns were sold at its Field and Stream locations.
