Latest Round Of Pittsburgh Public PSSA Test Scores Disappointing

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Disappointing results from the latest round of student test scores from the Pittsburgh Public Schools.

The district is reporting two sets of test scores.

On the PSSA exams, 47 percent of students scored proficient or advanced in English, up from 46 percent.

But there were declines in 3rd and 8th grade.

Overall PSSA math scores were steady, holding at just under 29 percent proficient or advanced.

Overall science scores increased to nearly 63 percent.

On the 11th grade Keystone exams, students declined in literature, algebra, biology.

Several board members expressed frustration after an education committee meeting Tuesday night.
