PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - This weekend, DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh will provide access to 48 iconic and modern buildings in the city as part of their annual event.

A ticket includes admission to all participating buildings on October 6 and 7 where some will have exhibits and lectures. Insider Tour tickets are also available for an extra cost to get a closer look at some of the city's buildings. This year's event will showcase Downtown Pittsburgh and the North Side

DOORS OPEN founder Bonnie Baxter said the event is a way to help locals become more familiar with their communities.

"According to the surveys that we had last year, 84 percent said because of their DOORS OPEN experience, they were more than likely to return to that neighborhood on a second visit on their own. So again, in falling in line with the mission of DOORS OPEN, it's allowing people a chance to get to know these neighborhoods in kind of an innovative, fun format.

Participants can visit as few or as many buildings as they choose during the event. For a full list of participating buildings and to purchase tickets, visit DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh's website. General admission tickets start at $10.
