PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – AAA East Central and their safety partners are teaming up and holding two events in the Pittsburgh area this week to help make sure that our senior drivers fit their vehicles and are able to navigate the roads properly.

Terri Rae Anthony, AAA Safety Adviser tells the KDKA Radio Afternoon News, “We are looking to open the lines of conversation because we are all going to outlive our driving careers between seven and ten years  and so if we look at things now and make some adjustments maybe we will be able to drive safer and longer.”

The first event will be held Tuesday, October 9th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Medic Rescue Ambulance Co. located at 313 Bridge Street, Beaver PA and the second event will be held Thursday, October 11th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  at the Cranberry Township Building located at 2525 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.

At these events Anthony says they will look at things like, “Does the person have their safety belt on, have they lost their range of motion to pull their safety belt down, can they still press the button to take their safety belt off, is the belt hitting them in the right places, and how close are they sitting to the steering wheel.”

If you are interested in attending either CarFit event; arrive in your own vehicle and the trained technicians will help you.
