Andrew Heafner died just days after celebrating Christmas in July with his family.

Heafner didn’t know how much time he had left and in his final days of battling colon cancer, the 65-year-old did not want dialysis and instead requested some seasonal cheer, even if it was the middle of summer.

So, his family celebrated their last Christmas together in the heat of July. They say that being together for one more Christmas meant the world to them.

As they strung up lights and hung ornaments on a tree, all while wearing shorts and t-shirts instead of christmas sweaters, all that was missing for Andrew, he says, was the eggnog.

But it’s a moment the Heafner's will all remember as being merry and bright as they mourn the loss of their beloved father and husband.
