PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Food and Drug Administration is holding a public hearing on the scientific data behind CBD oil on Friday.

“CBD is an organic natural compound that interacts with the receptors of your brain and body – CB1 and CB2 receptors,” said Deborah Gestner, Founder of CBD USA Grown, during an interview with Larry and John on Friday.

She is urging the FDA to regulate the product. Through experience, she knows how beneficial it can be.

“It’s lowered my A1C, its put my sugars in balance, I am not on insulin or metformin anymore,” Gestner explains.

“It balanced my high blood pressure, it promotes bone growth; the biggest claim to fame, is helping offset pain.”

Only about 1 in 20 products available in Pittsburgh are legal; a big reason why there is such a push for FDA regulations.

“People who are taking products called hemp seed oil or hemp extract, there is no CBD in that,” Gestner adds.
