PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - One of the only Kmart’s in the Pittsburgh area closed permanently last week.

The store was located in McMurray, and the manager, Joshua Englert, made an emotional statement over the PA system before closing the store for the final time.

He joined KDKA Radio on Wednesday to talk about how hard it was to read his message.

“It was pretty tough. I didn't know that it was going to affect me like that. I just decided to make a sincere announcement for my last one," Englert said.

"When I went back and started typing it, I realized it was going to be trouble."

His announcement soon went viral.

Individuals were reaching out, telling him how Kmart has influenced their personal lives.

"What I’m most honored by is all of the stories that people have shared and that 99.9% of the comments have been positive," Englert added.

This was his 18th year with Kmart, he started when he was only 16 years old. In that time period, he met his wife at the store.

Josh is now receiving all kinds of offers from other employers asking him if he needs a job;

"I've had a lot of people reach out to me career wise, which is pretty cool."

He wants to continue working with others and most likely in retail.

“I definitely want to manage a building again, and a team. I want to be able to work with customers and people, and I want to work for a company that's people focused. That's all I want,”Englert explains.

Kmart had a big role on Josh’s life and he was happy to go out the way he did.

“My career built me and I’m honored that this chapter is closing in such a noble way!”
