Fort Pitt Tunnel Closures to Continue This Next Week

Drivers Should Expect Delays While Traveling

Pittsburgh (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) —  Overnight work on the Parkway East (I-376) will continue through next week according to PennDOT. Fort Pitt Tunnel closures will occur from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.

The nights of Sunday, December 9th through Tuesday, December 11th the outbound lane will be closed. The outbound detour will take drivers through the ramp to North Route 837/Route 51 West End (Exit 69C) and will follow Route 837 to the West End Circle. From there, drivers will turn onto southbound Route 51 toward the Airport and follow the ramp onto I-376 West.

The inbound lane will be closed the nights of Wednesday, December 12th and Thursday, December 13th. The inbound detour asks drivers to take the ramp towards North US 19/Route 51 West End (Exit 69C). From there, drivers can follow northbound Route 51 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) and take the North 51 McKees Rocks/West End Exit. Drivers should stay in the right lane and continue on southbound Route 837 (West Carson Street) and then take the ramp to East I-376/North I-279 onto the Fort Pitt Bridge. 

No closures have been announced for the weekend of December 14th.

PennDOT states that drivers should anticipate delays and allocate extra time while traveling through work areas and detours.
