Gas Prices Are Supposed To Be Higher But They Just Keep Dropping

Gas is 7 cents cheaper around Pittsburgh this week

June 18, 2019 - 10:37 am

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA - Gas prices dropped another 7 cents last week.

Triple-A says that brings the average price in the Pittsburgh area down to $2.88 a gallon.

The national average is 20 cents lower at $2.68.

The reason for the drop at a time when prices are usually going up?

The Energy Information Administration says domestic gas inventories jumped by 1 million barrels last week.

Last week the EPA extended an emergency exemption on the summer gas blend that will keep gas prices lower in Allegheny County.

That extension runs through July 1 as the county waits for an official end for having to use the summer blend.
