PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - There is now a limit on how much meat you can buy at Giant Eagle.

Customers can purchase no more than two packages of ground meat and two packages of on-sale meat.

A spokesperson tells the Tribune-Review customers may notice a smaller selection and higher prices due to increasing demand and meat shortages.

Other super market chains like Kroger have also had to put limits on meat sales.

Pennsylvania leads the nation in meat plant workers with coronavirus infections.

A CDC report shows 858 cases of COVID-19 in meat workers across the commonwealth.

Workers typically stand shoulder to shoulder in meat processing plants.
