HARRISBURG Pa, (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has requested a major disaster declaration from the Federal Government.

It is Gov. Wolf’s hope that he can gain additional aid for county and municipal governments as well as certain nonprofits.

He also wants to continue supporting those who have been struggling during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Pennsylvania has already received an emergency declaration from President Trump’s nationwide emergency proclamation, but Wolf is requesting additional help because of the toll Coronavirus is taking on the state.

“The COVID-19 outbreak has taxed our commonwealth and our communities in ways that are almost incomprehensible,” Governor Wolf said. “I am calling on the President and the federal government to make available to us the assistance that will make a tangible difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors, and the dedicated public servants who are working in overdrive to support them.”

It is not known how long it will take for a decision to be made on Governor Wolf’s request.
