Kevin Harvick is the hottest driver in NASCAR after winning Sunday’s Ticketguardian 500 at ISM Raceway in Avondale, Arizona outside Phoenix.  The victory was Harvick’s third Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race win in-a-row and the 40th of his career.  Kyle Busch, who won the race’s first stage and lead the most laps (128), came in second in a Toyota.  Chase Elliott finished third in a Chevrolet.  Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. finished fourth and fifth in Toyota’s.

Harvick’s victory came after a tumultuous week that saw the driver and his Stewart Haas Racing Team penalized for a broken rear roof and window support during the previous week’s victory in Las Vegas.  Harvick emphatically pounded the right rear roof and window of his Jimmy John’s Ford after stopping along the front stretch to celebrate with his crew.  It was an equally big day for Harvick’s teammates as all four Stewart Haas Racing entries finished in the Top 10 for the first time in the team’s history.

“I’m just really proud everybody, after everything this week, everybody just came here mad with a chip on our shoulder wanting to do exactly what we did today and that’s the type of determination and grit that you want in a race team.  There’s nothing better than being a part of something like that” Harvick said after the race.

While Harvick and his Ford have been dominant this early season, Chevrolet teams continued to struggle to find the balance on the first-year Camaro as Elliott was the only Chevy to finish in the top 10.  Chip Ganassi Racing’s Chevy's qualified well but faded late.  Kyle Larson started second but finished 18th.  Larson’s teammate Jamie McMurray, who started 8th, finished 26th.

Harvick sits atop the points standings followed by Kyle Busch and Truex Jr.
