PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - For thousands of people in the North Hills the problem is getting to work or someplace you have to be. Jennifer Riley, who lives on Nelson Park Drive in Ross Township, tells KDKA Radio she is basically trapped at her house.

“It’s been pretty bad. We’ve not be able to get anywhere . . . Ivory [Avenue> is backed up, Nelson Run Road is backed up. I can’t get down the other way on Nelson Run Road, so I’m kind of just stuck.”

Tina Hite tells KDKA Radio’s Joe DeStio says water was flooding down Westview Avenue. She was awaken by thunder, went down stairs to find 11 inches of water in her basement.

“I lost a furnace. I lost the upright freezer. I lost a washer and driver, hot water tank, lawnmower,” said Heights.

The water has been finally pumped out of her house and Hite says she has flood insurance.
