PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) Brothers Brother Foundation is a nonprofit charity that focuses in medical and educational response.

However, since the Bahamas is suffering major devastation from Hurricane Dorian, they will also be helping with general disaster response.

“We are working with some partners who are on the ground right now doing needs assessment to let us know exactly what the most pressing needs are,” said Sarah Boal, Assistant Vice President for Disaster Response & Strategic Initiatives at Brother’s Brother Foundation, during an interview with KDKA Radio on Thursday.

“Until you have food to eat, clean water, and make sure that you’re immediate health needs are met, you’re not going to be able to rebuild your life.”

Once the community seems more stable, Brother’s Brother will look at providing more extensive needs.

“Making sure that hospitals and clinics are equipped to take care of the long-term needs of people, schools are open and have the equipment they need to educate their children, and looking at how we can improve the situation for the folks there,” Boal explains.
