PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Hundreds of gun rights supporters rallied at the state capitol today against efforts they say will limit their Second Amendment rights.

Republican State Representative Daryl Metcalfe of Butler County organized the annual event in the Main Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg. So many people showed up, security had to turn some away.

Metcalfe said at the rally, “We will not allow . . . our right to bear arms, under article 1 section 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, to be questioned by [legislators, the PA Supreme Court, Governor Wolf] or anybody.”

Several speakers at the rally Monday acknowledged pressure for new gun control measures following school shootings.

State Representative Eli Evankovich of Murrysville says there are millions of people willing to fight for their Second Amendment rights.

"We have a violence problem in this country. Let’s solve the violence in this country but not in a way that these tens of millions of people won’t stand up and fight vigorously against. Let’s exhaust all options first,” said Evankovich.

It was the 13th annual Rally Against Attacks on Right to Bear Arms.
