PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The iconic Clark Bar is once again available in Pittsburgh.

A few years ago the future of Clark Bars was unknown that is until Altoona-based Boyer Candy saved the classic Pittsburgh candy.

CEO Anthony Forgione tells KDKA Radio he is excited to bring the bars back to Pittsburgh.

“We’re proud to bring Clark Bars back to Pittsburgh,” said Forgione.

The bars are currently made in small patches and will be available on Valentine’s Day at candy retailers like Grandpa Joe’s in the Strip District and McKeesport Candy.

Pittsburgh will be the only location in the entire world where Clark Bars will be available.

Forgione says you won’t even be able to find the bars in Altoona, where the candy is currently made.

Bringing back the Clark Bar is a labor of love for Forgione.

He says back when Clark Bars were initially in trouble, his father, the CEO of Boyer at the time, tried to bid on the candy to keep it in Pittsburgh but eventually outbid.

Since then Forgione’s father has passed and when the opportunity to bring the bars back to PA, he jumped at it.

Forgione says the on the back of every Clark Bar you will see the phrase, “Born in the Burgh.”

In addition to the classic Clark Bar, Clark Cups are available nationwide.

Forgione admits that while they were learning to make the bars, they were producing a lot of oddly-shaped candy.

So to not waste the product they decided to grind up the bars and put them in chocolate cups.
