PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Dozens of new charges have been filed against a Johnstown pediatrician accused of sexually assaulting young patients.

70-year-old Dr. Johnnie Barto was already jail on the first three cases against him filed early this year. State Attorney General Josh Shapiro has now filed 69 new counts covering 29 alleged victims:

“These assaults happened from the late 1980s through the 1990s and 2000s and continued until January of this year,” said Shapiro. “These victims included boys and girls, many aged 8 to 12, ages when young people typically would visit a family pediatrician.”

One infant girl was two weeks old when Shapiro says she was assaulted.

Barto, who worked at Laurel Pediatric Associates, would ask parents to leave the room or use his body to block their view of the assaults.
