PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt was in town Thursday for his “Across America” special.

Pittsburgh is Holt’s second stop on the cross-country tour focusing on local stories impacting the nation’s cities.

This is the second tour of its kind for Holt. The first was in January 2016 leading up to President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Lester Holt talked about the tour and Pittsburgh stories he would be focusing on with the KDKA Radio Afternoon News Thursday before the special aired.

“Pittsburgh is a great city for the story we’re trying to tell, which is looking at stories that may resonate across other cities, and certainly the transformation in Pittsburgh primarily from a steel industrial town into this tech era city with vibrant jobs, people wanting to move in,” Holt said. “That’s a great story to tell.”

Holt’s special focuses on the growing pains that go along with reinventing a city including the influx of new jobs and moneymakers and how to keep the city livable for longtime residents.
