PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Athletic director and former Steelers public address announcer Randy Cosgrove has died.

He was hired as A.D. at Bishop Canevin earlier this year and held the same position at Ambridge for 14 years before leaving the district in 2012.

Cosgrove graduated from Plum high school, where he's a member of the hall of fame.

He was the Steelers PA man for 15 years. Larry Richert, KDKA Radio Morning News co-host and current Steelers public address announcer at Heinz Field, says that Cosgrove was more than willing to help him when he took over.

“Randy was one of the most generous people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was more than graciously when helping me transition into the role with the Steelers, but I think more important was his ability to help young students who had an interest in sports.”
