PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – A campaign for kindness has been launched in the names of Cecil and David Rosenthal, the two brothers among 11 dead in last October’s Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Squirrel Hill. #LoveLikeTheBoys is the social media moniker given the effort by the Rosenthal family and ACHIEVA, the social service agency that assisted Cecil and David through their disabilities.

#LoveLikeTheBoys is meant to honor first responders and others affected by the tragedy. But it also hopes to promote a movement of kindness and thoughtful good deeds.

“You saw our brothers for who they truly were, big men with big hearts and a love for their community,” said Diane Rosenthal, a sister to Cecil and David. “You embraced them, extending the walls of their home to include their neighborhood, their town, their city,” said Rosednthal.

Younger sister Michele Rosenthal said, “We have learned a great deal from (our brothers) and how they lived their lives. It is our hope that we all try to do the same as we move forward.”

The Rosenthals and ACHIEVA chose Random Acts of Kindness week to launch the effort. Random Acts of Kindness coupons are available on the ACHIEVA site at achieva.info/loveliketheboys. Kind acts can be tagged using #LoveLikeTheBoys. Merchandise bearing the #LoveLikeTheBoys logo is available at https://proknitwear.com/achieva. Proceeds benefit ACHIEVA’s Cecil and David Rosenthal Memorial Fund.
