Man Accused Of Taking EMS Vehicle For Joyride Headed To Trial

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Westmoreland County man accused of stealing a Pittsburgh EMS vehicle in March is headed to trial. 24-year-old Matthew King of Smithton had a preliminary hearing this morning. Smith allegedly stole an EMS truck while it was parked outside PPG Paints Arena during a concert.  

 

24-year-old Matthew King of Smithton will appear before a judge. He charged with theft, criminal mischief, and driving under the influence.

A witness recorded video of the crime on a cell phone.

Police caught up with the suspect about 20 minutes later when he crashed into another SUV and the front of a restaurant on Ardmore Boulevard in Forest Hills. Police say he broke his collarbone during the incident.
