PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The man charged in the killing of New Kensington police officer Brian Shaw last year now says he wants to get married.

Rahmael Holt calls Vanessa Portis his fiancée. The Westmoreland County DA is asking the court to prevent any marriage between the two while Holt is jailed.

It was Portis who drove Holt around after the shooting of officer Shaw until Holt was arrested four days later.

Prosecutors say a marriage might keep Portis from testifying. But defense attorney Timothy Dawson rejects that:

Her testimony is not what I consider to be critical . . . In fact if we went to trial tomorrow she might also be a defense witness.

Instead, Dawson says he believes its true love
