PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Shocked and heartbroken are some of the reactions to the death of American TV celebrity and food writer Anthony Bourdain.

Braddock Mayor John Fetterman tells KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin, he and Bourdain became good friends while Bourdain was in town last year shooting his TV program, “Parts Unknown”.

“He treated the crew with [respect> . . . you hear the line you can tell a lot by a person’s character who’s nice to somebody who doesn’t have to be and he was across the board.”

Bourdain shot a portion of his CNN show in Braddock last year. He visited Superior Motors restaurant. Fetterman says he could tell he loved what he did.

"He really presented and represented exactly what we talked about and he hung out for about 90 minutes after shooting stopped and you could tell how much he enjoyed working and hanging out with Kevin [Sousa> in the kitchen and swapping war stories and everything, really just a good man.”

He adds Bourdain stayed as long as he needed too in order or sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans.

"Bizarre Foods" host Andrew Zimmern wrote that a "piece of my heart is truly broken." Zimmern said, "The sad cruel irony is that the last year he'd never been happier."
