McKeesport Police K-9 Unit Asks For Community Help Paying For K-9 Officer’s Cancer Treatment

The K-9 unit is funded entirely by donations

McKEESPORT (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — A McKeesport City Police K-9 officer has been diagnosed with cancer, and the department is seeking the community’s help with treating him.

Officer Farkle is an 8 year old Dutch Shepherd diagnosed with mouth cancer a few weeks ago.

Because surgery would remove too much tissue in his mouth, Farkle is undergoing radiation treatment at a Pittsburgh-area specialty animal hospital, the department said in a Facebook Post Sunday.

The treatments are expected to cost more than $9,000.

The McKeesport Police K-9 unit is funded entirely by donations.

Anyone who wants to donate to the department can do so through these three organizations:

McKeesport Police Department
201 Lysle Boulevard
McKeesport, PA 15132

The McKeesport Police K-9 account through the Parkview Credit Union
2100 Eden Park Boulevard
McKeesport, PA 15132
