PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The 143rd day of the year is now called “1-4-3 Day,” in Pennsylvania.

Tom Wolf, The Governor of Pennsylvania, made the declaration in honor of the late Fred Rogers .

The numbers “1-4-3” meant a lot to Mr. Rogers.  Every time he weighed himself on a scale, the reading was 143. It was also another way for him to say “I love you.”

Governor Wolf wants the day to be represented with kindness and love.

“Fred was quoted as saying; ‘there are three ways to ultimate success. One is be kind, two is be kind, and three is be kind,” said David Newell, better known as Mr. McFeely on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, during an interview with KDKA Radio on Thursday.

“He’s sort of taken the location, location, location and turned it around”
