PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Munhall native Gabby Barrett has made it to the American Idol Finals and only two other people stand with her. She has to wait until Monday night to find out if she will be winner.

She came back to Pittsburgh earlier this week to film footage for the singing competition's finale and threw out the first pitch at a Pirates game. She also performed a free concert at the Rivers Casino Amphitheater.

The Mayor of Munhall Rick Brennan spent the day with her and made sure she traveled around town safely. He joined the KDKA Radio Morning News and says, “She is a genuine, young and vibrant person.”

This is exactly how she appears on American Idol. She displays herself with respect and seems very charismatic.

“I would like to have a parade for her through all of the Steel Valley or through Pittsburgh,” Brennan said.

Last week, the final contestants were sent to Nashville to work with Carrie Underwood. Underwood said that Gabby is further along than she was at her age.

Brennan went on to say “She is by far heads above all the rest. She’s got so much talent it’s absolutely a god given talent.”

The whole town is rooting for Gabby.

Tonight, the Pirates will resurrect a “Friday Night Rocks” with Gabby Barrett. She performed at this event in the past and the Pirates are going to re-air the video Friday.
