PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Getting around Pittsburgh is not always the easiest thing, especially if you rely on another mode of transportation that isn’t yourself, like a bus or train.

But don’t fret a new app is making its way to Pittsburgh, called Transit.

Stephen Miller a Spokesman for Transit, tells The KDKA Radio Afternoon News, “Our goal is to help everyone get from A to B without using their own car.”

“So as soon as you open the app you can see real time ETA’s for nearby light rails, buses, Uber, healthy ride bikes, and even have the Monongahela and Duquesne Inclines.”

Miller also tells The KDKA Radio Afternoon News that they rely on data from the Port Authority in order to track the buses and let users know how far away buses are.

“We recently also launched a new feature that uses crowd sourcing, so that way users on the buses themselves can provide real-time, second-by-second location information for other riders.”

Miller also talked about the feature Go saying, “It is a real-time transit companion, so if you’re planning a trip in transit and you tap “Go,” it will tell you exactly when to leave so you can catch your bus or train  and even when your stop is coming up so you don’t miss it.”

The use of Go also lets you see how many other users you are helping out.

Miller shared that the app uses a combination of different types of transportation and routes to get you to your destination.  He says, “We try to give people as many option as we can.”

“So if you want to take the bus because it is raining, we will give you the closest bus stop and route to get you to your destination or let’s say you want to take a healthy ride bike we will show you the best route from A to B.”

Check out transitapp.com for more information and the app is available for iPhone and Android users.
