New Tool Now Available With Information About Treatment For Substance Use Disorder

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – The Wolf Administration has unveiled a new tool with information about treatment for substance use disorder.

The Drug and Alcohol Referral Tool, or DART, asks eight questions, then provides treatment options and other resources based on the answers.

Jennifer Smith, Secretary of the Department for Drug and Alcohol Programs tells the KDKA Radio Afternoon News DART beings with eight questions.

“Two of those questions are required, so your age and the county you live in and then based on your responses to the remainder of the questions it gives you a comprehensive list of all different resources.”

Smith adds, “We pull together a bunch of different agencies, some in the health and human services space but we also included the Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, compiling a list of all different resources.”

The results are comprehensive for someone suffering from substance use disorder or a loved one.

“It will include website addresses, telephone numbers, contact names and then it can be printed or exported.”
