The first week of Spring is here and so are the orange construction cones and barrels to make your commute difficult and time-consuming.  Here are the ongoing construction projects listed along with pertinent information you need to know.  Check back week-to-week as this will be updated as work progresses.

 

Parkway North/I-279 Prepatory Work in Allegheny County:

  • I-279 between Camp Horne Road and Perrysville Avenue interchanges.  A single-lane restriction and shoulder restriction each day from 10 a.m.. to 3 p.m..

 

Interstate 70 Pavement Repairs in Washington County:

  • Interstate 70 between the Chestnut Street interchange and the I-79 North junction.  Lane restrictions daily, weather permitting, between 8 a.m.. and 8 p.m.. through March 30.

 

Route 28 Sign Repairs:

  • Southbound between Chestnut Street overpass and Anderson Street.  Single-lane and shoulder restrictions daily between 10 a.m.. and 3 p.m.. through Friday March 30.

 

Liberty Tunnel Improvement Project:

  • Outbound lanes closed to traffic from 8 p.m.. to 5 p.m.. Monday thru Friday as crews conduct installation of electrical conduit and cables, work on safety and control systems.  Inbound tunnel will not be impacted.  Overall project should be completed by February 2019.

 

Liberty Bridge Improvement Project:

  • Lane restrictions on the bridge between McArdle Roadway and the ramps to/from Blvd of the Allies.  A single-lane restriction in each direction, but not simultaneously, weekdays from 10 a.m.. to 2 p.m..
  • Single-lane restriction on McKean Street Avenue between First Avenue and Second Avenue weekdays from 9 a.m.. to 3p.m..

 

Forbes Avenue Improvement Project:

  • Lane restrictions at various intersections on Forbes Avenue between South Craig Street and Margaret Morrison Street.  Daylight restrictions form 9 a.m.. to 3 p.m.. and nighttime restrictions from 8 p.m.. to 6 a.m..  No work is expected to take place during rush hour periods.  Major work and paving operations not expected to begin until mid-April.  The overall project concludes in November 2018.

 

Perry Highway Signal Improvements in Pine and Marshall Townships:

  • Traffic signal installation work at various intersections along Route 19 between Wallace Road in Pine Township and Freeport Road in Marshall Township.  Single-lane restrictions will occur as needed on Route 19 in each direction weekdays from 9 a.m.. to 6 p.m.. through late March.

 

McKnight Road Signal Improvements in McCandless Township:

  • Minor restrictions at various intersections along McKnight Road between Perry Highway and Perrymont Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Overall project expected to be completed by August 2018.

 

Signal Improvements in Ross and Ohio Townships:

  • Lane and shoulder restrictions weekdays from 9 a.m.. to 3 p.m.. on Camp Horne Road at I-279 ramps; Union Avenue at I-279 ramps and the intersection of Perrysville Avenue and Cemetery Lane through Friday April 13th.

 

Connor Road Gas Line Installation In Mt. Lebanon:

  • Gas line replacement and installation work along Connor Road between Terrace Road and Green Ridge Road.  Lane restrictions weekdays from 9 a.m.. to 3 p.m. through mid-May.

 

Utility Line Relocation on Mt. Nebo Road in Ohio Township:

  • Utility line relocation work between I-79 and Arndt Road.  Single lane alternating traffic weekdays from 9 a.m.. to 3 p.m.. and overnight from 7 p.m.. to 6 a.m.. through mid-May.

 

Pine Creek Bridge No. 8 Repairs in McCandless Township:

  • Kummer Road closed between Ingomar Road and Walter Road through late June as crews install a new deck and barriers and make substructure repairs to the bridge.

 

Route 837 Improvement Project:

  • Long-term single-lane restriction in each direction between Hoffman Boulevard and North Second Street each day through December 2018.

 

Duquesne McKeesport Bridge Ramp Project:

  • Single-lane restrictions as needed in each direction between the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge and the intersection with Center Street/South Linden Street and on Northbound Route 8057 (the roadway that carries Northbound Route 837 traffic under the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge) as crews conduct barrier installations, drainage modification and curb removal work in preparation of preservation project that begins in late April and runs through November 2018.

 

Elizabeth Bridge Improvement Project:

  • Long-term single-lane restrictions in each direction on Route 51 and the Elizabeth Bridge between Penneman Avenue and Elm Hollow Road.  A single 12-foot-wide lane will be maintained in each direction through late November.

 

Saxonburg Road Slide Repair Project:

  • Saxonburg Road closed in each direction between Freeport Road and Millerstown Road through August 31st.  Crews will conduct slide remediation work, utility relocation, drainage and guiderail upgrades roadway improvements and other miscellaneous construction activities.
