PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) -- Did you make a new year’s resolution? Will you keep it?

President of Shadyside Psychological Services, Dr. Paul Friday, tells KDKA Radio…probably not.

“80% of the resolutions are gone within 6 weeks,” Friday said. “Usually because they are too large, they’re too big.”

He suggests setting reasonable goals, writing them down, and telling friends to help keep you accountable.

“What can we do? We can make them more realistic, we can ground them more, we can write them down, we can tell people what we’re going to do, we ask people to reinforce them.”

Dr. Friday says change is difficult for people, and recommends on changing habits a little at a time instead of all at once.
