PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – The man charged in the murder of a female University of Pittsburgh student last October will also stand trial for the rape of a girl in Elizabeth Township days earlier.

The 17-year-old victim testified Friday she met 21-year-old Matthew Darby at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and they were to go out to dinner October 3rd.

He picked her up at her mother's home in Elizabeth and eventually drove to a church parking lot where they walked into the woods together where she says Darby raped her. Defense attorney David Shrager calls it consensual.

Darby is also charged in the murder of Alina Shaykhet 5 days later.
