PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Pat Toomey wants to stop any future president from banning fracking.

Democratic Presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have proposed bans on hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to extract natural gas.

Toomey is taking them on, sponsoring a resolution that makes it clear Congress believes a president doesn’t have the authority to ban fracking.

The subject fractures democrats—Governor Tom Wolf supported the Spell Cracker Plant in Beaver County built on the success of Marcellus Shale Gas. Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto has said he doesn’t want to see new Cracker Plants in the region.
