PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – It’s the most wonderfully green time of the year! Pittsburgh’s famous St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Saturday.

The Parade Day Mass will be at Saint Patrick's Church in the Strip District at 8 a.m. and the family-friendly Parade Fest will be in Market Square from 10 a.m – 1 p.m. Pittsburgh's Saint Patrick's Day Parade steps off at 10 tomorrow morning – sun, rain or snow.

Parade Spokesperson Tim O'Brien told the KDKA Radio Afternoon News this year's parade is special.

“In my memory, we haven’t dedicated a parade to anybody,” O’Brien said. “But it was unanimous. We voted to dedicate this parade to Dan Rooney.”

The celebrations might even look a little different.

“It’s definitely going to be line with green, and a little black and gold thrown in,” O’Brien said of the parade route. “Our official parade t-shirt this year – which is usually green – is black and gold in honor of Dan Rooney.”

The late Steelers chairman and former U.S. ambassador to Ireland passed away in April of last year.
