Police Officer Assaulted In Homewood South Overnight

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Three people were arrested after an officer was assaulted overnight.

Two Pittsburgh Police officers from Zone 5 were on their regular patrol when they witnessed a male being chased by a group of people on Collier Street near Idlewild Street before 2:25 a.m.

When the officers asked the group what was happening, a female punched the one officer in the face, and other males joined in on the assault.

OC spray was deployed.

Two juvenile males and one adult female were arrested, and all three were taken to the hospital per protocol to be medically cleared.

They face Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing charges.

The officers were treated by EMS for OC exposure, with no serious injuries reported.

Police report that the original incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, and a separate report was taken.
