PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Get ready for long lines and traffic congestion in the upcoming weeks as AAA predicts a record number of Americans will travel this holiday season.

AAA say more than 115 million people will travel between Sunday, December 21st through Wednesday, January 1st—a 3.9% increase of travelers this year than last, setting a record for the most ever during the holidays.

The busiest day on the road will be Thursday, December 26th, while the busiest day to fly will be Sunday, December 22nd.

The goods news—gasoline prices are expected to drop during the holidays, however, car rentals are expected to hit a ten-year high.

Of those traveling by car, AAA says 850,000 motorists will seek roadside assistance during the holidays.
