PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is advising boaters that all warning buoys may not be in place for Memorial Day weekend – the official start to the recreation season.

A release by the Corps says high water conditions are slowing the placement of buoys used to delineate restricted areas near lock and dam facilities along the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio Rivers.

Boaters should consult navigation charts and river conditions before going on local waterways, and to be aware of the landmarks and potential hazards on the river.

Buoys will be placed once conditions are safe.
