PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — The Northview Heights man accused of plotting to bomb a North Side church has been indicted on federal terrorism charges.

21-year-old Mustafa Alowemer faces a charge of attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and two counts of distributing information relating to an explosive, destructive device or weapon of mass destruction.

The Syrian refugee has been in federal custody since his arrest last month following an undercover FBI operation.

Investigators say he planned to bomb the Legacy International Worship Center in the name of ISIS.

The defense has previously argued the claims were "puffery."
